DAY FIVE

Happy Halloween! I took my sister up to see our house today and was very surprised that they had been up there working on Saturday! All the forms have been pulled away from the front of the house and they dug the trench for the footings of the back of the house! What a happy surprise! It sure was windy up there!

This is a picture of the trench for the footings of the back of the house.

DAY FOUR

Today they finished laying the re-bar (sp?) for the footings and walls of the front of the house and then brought in the concrete. They will pour the front walls on Monday and then dig the footings for the back of the house and get them poured sometime next week. It is looking good! We really like our builder...he is great! They left us a nice little surprise scratched in the concrete this afternoon...it made me smile!

Here comes the concrete...I wasn't sure how that big truck was going to make it down the hill without falling over!

This made me smile! It is right under the front door...I will think about it every time I walk through that door!

DAY THREE

Sorry, there wasn't anything to update you on yesterday. They are preparing to pour the footings either tomorrow or Monday. These are HUGE footings...about 4 times the size of normal footings...I guess our engineer wanted to make sure the house was steady on the hill! To kind of give you a little orientation of where things are at, look at the first picture...the guy in the light blue shirt is standing in the dining room...just in front of him is the front door...the guy in the dark blue sweatshirt on the lower right is standing where the window seat will be in the kitchen. The guy in the very back in the dark blue is standing in the mudroom...just behind him is the garage...Now...everything should be as clear as mud for you! It sure was cold up there!

This is a view from the back of the house...

Day One

So, after many weeks of bank and loan blues...our house is finally under construction! Sorry that the first pictures are of nothing more than a large hole in the ground...I promise...they will get better! We also had our first major snow of the season...really, only just a few flurries, but enough to leave a nice dusting on the dirt and low visibility conditions at times for the CAT driver!
